The Prairie Settee is one of L. & J.G. Stickley’s most famous contributions to American furniture design. The Peter Hansen designed settle uses wide arms and paneled quartersawn oak to create a distinct horizontal plane. This technique is often associated with the designs of Frank Lloyd Wright, but the Prairie Settee, with its use of elongated corbel brackets and balanced proportion, is distinctively Stickley.
